According to the sponsors, the 16th to 18th April VEX Robotics World Championship 2015 is specially designed to celebrate the achievements of students who are engineering-minded have a keen interest in the field of mathematics, science and technology.

It has been expected that this competition will attract over 800 student groups from an initial 12 thousand teams that are competing since last summer in different local events around the world. There are many Kentucky schools that are expected to participate in this competition.

According to the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau, this big event is also expected to attract more than 15000 attendees, which will generate around $ 5million in local economic impact. The convention bureau also reported that the VEX Worlds is the world’s largest international robotics event, which will bring together 800 of the brightest, best and talented student teams from thirty different countries for the competition that comprises 3 days in back-to-back robotics matches.

These 800 teams already competed in several local events since last June, such as VEX U, VEX Robotics Competitions and the VEX IQ Challenge. The bureau also announced that every game challenge is different from another, which requires a student-built robot to maneuver, stack and pick up, pegs, cubes and blocks around a field for scoring as many points as it is possible. More than just an exercise in driving robots and programming, the robots will be turned to engaging and interesting hands-on sport by all the tech savvy students which will be fascinating to watch. All the teams will work together; however, display the skills of their robots individually in both autonomous skills and driver-controlled competition.

In this competition, all the student teams will be given tasks that include building and designing of a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge from around the world. According to sponsors, this competition will help the students in learning how to work efficiently in teams, how to better communicate and skills of leadership.

The Robotics Education & Competition Foundation and the Northrop Grumman Foundation present the VEX Worlds event. However, local events support is generally provided by the University of Louisville, UPS, Toyota Manufacturing of Kentucky, Nissan, Mathworks, HelmsBriscoe, Glowtouch and General Electric.
