HIVE Leadership Summit: Journey from Armenia’s 2015 Gathering to a Global Tech Powerhouse

April 2015. Yerevan’s TUMO Center for Creative Technologies. It comes alive with two landmark events: 1. A Musical Town Hall Meeting led by Serj Tankian 2.The inaugural HIVE Engineering Leadership Summit featuring Alexis Ohanian and Raffi Krikorian.

HIVE began as a bold experiment to unite Armenia’s creative and tech communities. Started by Nina Achadjian in 2014 the initiative set out to bridge Armenians diaspora talent with country burgeoning tech sector.

HIVE later transformed into HIVE Ventures that became a foundation-powered platform offering funding, mentorship - gateway to Silicon Valley for Armenian entrepreneurs everywhere. That started as a single gathering and became a thriving ecosystem, an annual tech summit at TUMO.

By 2019, the fourth HIVE Tech Summit in Yerevan had cemented its leadership as a premier regional tech event.

30 Under 30 Armenians in Tech launched in 2020 in HIVE drawing hundreds of nominations and shining spotlight on Armenian innovators worldwide. That year HIVE announced the HIVE Ventures Tech Summit in Yerevan and underscoring a robust calendar and a dynamic portfolio.

With support from the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation today HIVE continues to energize the community with events and a strong pipeline. From gatherings of 2015 to a lasting, global network now connects Armenian founders with mentors and investors from Silicon Valley.
