Xiaomi Opens U.S. Online Store, No Phones Yet

What the U.S. store offers

Xiaomi has opened an online store for the U.S. at mi.com/us. Here, you’ll find monitors, wearables, and home devices. But if you’re looking for a Xiaomi phone, you won’t find one for sale in the U.S.

Earlier, there were reports that Xiaomi’s U.S. store would focus on accessories to help build the brand. Now, the store is all about ecosystem products instead of phones.

No phones in the U.S. (for now)

Xiaomi has historically cited hardware certification and regulatory hurdles as reasons it has not launched phones in the United States. In 2016, the company said U.S. phone sales were not authorized and did not plan to offer smartphones through official channels in the U.S.

Right now, the U.S. site is sticking with non-phone devices. It looks like Xiaomi is still building its brand here, rather than jumping straight into selling smartphones.
